23A Single Turbo FD (4-rotor)

Autotech Motorsports LCC has transplanted a 23A 4 rotor rotary engine into a 3rd Generation RX-7.  This car has been used as the platform and test bench for the 23A engine development.  The extent of this swap is as follows:

The steering column and rack stays in place.  No bump steer.

The engine sits 2-3 inches lower.  Even lower than the stock engine.

The engine sits 6-7 inches backward into the transmission tunnel.

No cutting of the firewall was involve.

The shifter virtually stays in its stock location.

The engine assembled with the upper and lower intake manifolds.  It also uses a custom oil pan for clearance on an FD installation.

Even with the  front mount  intercooler setup it still leaves a substantial space in front of the motor.

Here's that 'sweet' turbocharged 23A 4 rotor sounds right at the exhaust. (2.4MB)
